Golden sun, savory pies and iconic stadiums - what else would an supporter of the English team desire?

Well, perhaps an Ashes series in Australia where they retain a possibility to secure the famous trophy after the first three Tests.

Unfortunately, this scenario is off the table on this occasion, however, after a comprehensive victory by 82 runs in Adelaide gave Australia 3-0 up for the fourth successive Ashes series on their own soil.

The loyal traveling fans, the vocal contingent, have thousands of supporters traveling for the concluding fixtures in Sydney and Melbourne.

Furthermore, other travel parties who will be vacationing in Australia, as well as families and friends planning a special expedition.

The Disappointed Travelers

The Ryding siblings are four such fans.

The group had their travel arrangements and match passes booked for the Melbourne and Sydney matches "12 months ago", dreaming of a long-awaited triumph.

From afar, they've seen Australia outplay the visitors in just 11 days from their family home in their hometown.

"Everyone at work has been giving me grief regarding the concluded contest for the last two weeks," said Sam.

"The hope was that we would have the series on the line by the time we arrived."

Lowered Expectations

There was plenty of positivity regarding the team's prospects of securing a first win in 15 years for a victory down under before it began.

However, the situation is now facing the prospect of continuing a barren spell in the country to 19 games when the Boxing Day Test begins in the MCG on Christmas Day.

The tourists - and their fans - will be hoping to sidestep a whitewash.

It was mentioned that the "thrill and enjoyment" of head coach the aggressive 'Bazball' approach in the past couple of seasons had "renewed interest in" the longest format for English supporters.

Yet the fans said they had realistic outlooks for the remaining matches - and all they are hoping for from the players is "some resilience".

"Every pundit points it out, but it all is about psychological strength. 'Bazball' has been elevated to a term now that is just, like, unrealistic play," stated Rory Ryding.

"In a five-day Test match, you should hunker down. Playing at deliveries 'outside the line has never been in the fundamentals, and that is mainly the fault the top order."

Looking Ahead

When questioned if he believed England will triumph in a Test in this Ashes series, Sam said: "The evidence suggests the Australians are superior right now."

"There is going to have to be several individuals that delivers for the team and makes a big impact."

Even with the series lost, the siblings are still looking forward to the trip.

"It will be a wonderful trip nonetheless," commented Katie Ryding. "Our approach is that outlook."

"Obviously it is disappointing we aren't fighting for more, but we have made a substantial financial commitment already."

"We will make the most of celebrating the holidays out there. It is also mine and Rory's first time traveling during the festive period."

A schoolteacher, Katie is determined to make the most of the 21,000-mile round-trip as part of her time off.

"As a backup plan, there's always golf to rely on," she added.
